Tefuawe Black Flip-Up Sugar Scoop Welding Helmet (Medium Cut)
Product description
This flip-up sugar scoop welding hood is supplied ready to wear and includes the helmet shell, installed ratcheting headgear, extra lens clips and a durable waterproof storage bag.
The shell is molded from a specially formulated fiberglass composite that resists moisture and impact to minimize cracking, chipping or splitting in demanding work environments. The profile is a medium cut on both the top and bottom, typical of pipeline-style "sugar scoop" hoods, offering room for breathing protection without an oversized footprint.
A versatile ratcheting headband offers multiple adjustments plus a larger wraparound rear rest to spread load and reduce pressure on the skull during long shifts. The headgear also allows you to move the eyes-to-lens distance so it can better accommodate half-mask respirators and other face protection.
The flip-up front provides quick access to change shades or check work without removing the entire hood, and extra lens clips are supplied for swaps and spares. A waterproof, tough storage bag protects the hood when not in use and during transport.
Pros
- Very lightweight and ergonomic shape
- Moisture- and impact-resistant fiberglass shell
- Flip-up lens and adjustable ratchet headgear
Cons
- Headgear feels light-duty to some users
- Lens-retaining clips can be fiddly
- Long-term fiberglass durability is uncertain for some
VerdictThis sugar scoop-style fiberglass hood delivers an ergonomically shaped, ultra-light alternative for pipeliners and fabricators who spend long shifts welding. It combines a medium top-and-bottom cut, flip-up lens convenience and a ratchet headband with expanded rear support for reduced pressure. The build is moisture- and impact-resistant and includes a protective carry bag and spare lens clips. S

Exactly what we needed
Simple and effective—exactly the hood our crew was looking for.

Solid, affordable sugar scoop
Good welding hood that performs well. Very satisfied and it’s more affordable than many other sugar scoop options. I also like the way it looks.

Lightweight hood, minor headgear gripe
Rated four stars only because the headgear feels a bit cheap. Otherwise it’s a great hood with extra lens clips, very lightweight and slick-looking. Good value for someone starting out.

Almost perfect after a year
A year of daily use and the headgear still holds strong in any position. Compact but roomy enough for a half mask. The lens retainer bits are fiddly and sometimes require a flathead to swap lenses. Fix that and I’ll buy another.

Great value and finish
Surpassed what I expected. The finish has subtle purple highlights and a metallic sheen. Very light yet well made. I find it preferable to models from Fibre Metal and Jackson for everyday use.

Nice color with sparkles, very adjustable and fits well. Much more comfortable and noticeably lightweight.

No flip-up trouble so far
Had it about two months and the flip-up has worked without issue. The headgear is comfortable and the shell is extremely light. It arrived assembled; I only installed my shade.

Extremely practical for daily work
I use this hood full time—ten hours a day in all kinds of conditions. I own high-end hoods but kept reaching for this one because it’s so useful. Gave one to a trainee who preferred this over my much pricier hood. I liked it enough to buy a second for the shop. Two years in with no mechanical issues aside from some surface scratches.

Really like it, one small annoyance
I love the hood overall. The adjuster occasionally loosens while working but usually stays set. Shape and build are good; I’m not a fan of the sparkly paint—plain black or white would be nicer.

Very light and practical
Pre-trimmed top and bottom with a flip front and updated, comfortable headgear. Practically weightless on the head. Not sure how the fiberglass will age, but it’s a solid pick for the current market.
