Ender 3 X-Axis MGN12C Linear Rail Kit (12.6") with Sprite Pro Bracket
Product description
Compatibility and what's included:
This kit is built for the Ender 3 family — Ender 3, Ender 3 Pro and Ender 3 V2. The package contains a 12.6-inch (MGN12C) linear rail and carriage, along with a dedicated mount bracket intended to work with the Sprite Pro extruder upgrade. Hardware for mounting the rail to the X-axis is provided.
Construction and materials:
The rail and carriage are manufactured from high-carbon chromium steel for the guide and hardened surfaces for the runner block, producing a wear-resistant, low-friction sliding interface. The bracket and fasteners are machined or formed to fit the Ender 3 extrusion profile and maintain even load distribution along the rail.
How it changes performance:
Replacing the stock V-slot wheels with a linear guide reduces vibration and lateral play, improving print detail and repeatability. The low friction of the MGN12C assembly lowers mechanical resistance, which can allow faster moves with less motor effort and reduced noise. Because it is a direct mechanical swap for the X gantry, no firmware configuration or extra wiring is required for basic operation.
Installation notes:
The rail mounts to the side of the X carriage assembly using the supplied bracket and screws. Users should be aware that the side-mounted guide shifts the X-axis envelope slightly inward, so some usable print width may be reduced. The kit is supplied with a bracket sized for Sprite Pro; alternative extruder layouts (notably many direct-drive heads) may need custom supports or different hardware to fit.
Pros
- Smoother, quieter linear motion
- Sturdy high-carbon chromium steel construction
- Simple swap with no firmware changes
Cons
- Not compatible with many direct-drive setups
- Reduces available X travel when mounted
- Bracket is designed for Sprite Pro out of the box
VerdictThis rail kit turns the Ender 3 carriage into a stiffer, quieter linear system that improves dimensional accuracy and allows higher travel speeds. Installation is straightforward and requires no wiring or firmware tweaks, though the supplied bracket is intended for the Sprite Pro and the upgrade reduces usable X travel and won't fit many direct-drive setups.

Not for direct-drive setups
This design does not accommodate direct-drive extruders without additional parts or modifications.

Solid, quick upgrade
I fitted this in minutes and the rail aligns nicely. The build feels durable and motion is very smooth. My Ender 3 prints looked sharper after the swap and I was even able to tweak the carriage height to gain a bit more X travel.

Noticeable print improvement
After installing the rail my surface finishes improved. Setup was straightforward and the outcome was a tangible quality uplift.

No direct drive support
Confirm compatibility first — this kit does not natively support direct-drive extruders.

Transforms motion behavior
Replacing the V-slot wheels with this rail eliminated the wobble I used to fight. Installation was quick and the printer now runs much smoother and more reliably.

Clear instructions, trade-offs
Assembly was easy thanks to clear steps. Keep in mind the rail sits to the side and reduces the printable X width, and it won’t work with direct-drive layouts without adaptation.

Works with Sprite Pro; non-Pro needs mods
If you run a Sprite Pro it mounts directly. Owners of the non-Pro Sprite will likely need to print or source a different bracket and swap some covers to get proper clearance. Instructions are minimal, so some tinkering helps.
