STX XT 402 Field Hockey Stick — Intermediate Low-Bow
Product description
The STX XT 402 field hockey stick is engineered for intermediate attacking players who require a mix of responsiveness, lift and accuracy. Its composition features a 40% carbon layup to deliver a balance of strength and maneuverability suitable for dynamic play.
This model incorporates an extreme low bow profile, positioning the curvature lower on the shaft to assist precision play and facilitate 3-D skills such as aerial lifts and accurate drag flicking. The bow placement makes it easier to get the head under and around the ball for controlled elevation and deceptive offensive moves.
The stick’s head is tapered at both the toe and heel to improve quickness when manipulating the ball and to support rapid changes of direction. The package includes the stick with a soft, pre-applied grip and is intended for players advancing toward more technical attacking roles who want a tool that complements refined skill work.
Pros
- 40% carbon for a balance of power and feel
- Extreme low bow enhances lift and drag flicks
- Tapered toe and heel promote quick ball skills
Cons
- Low bow may require an adjustment period
- Not optimized for defensive or beginner play
- 40% carbon isn’t a full-carbon stiffness
VerdictAimed at intermediate attackers, the XT 402 blends a 40% carbon construction with an extreme low bow to favor lift, precision and enhanced 3-D skills. Its tapered toe and heel promote faster stickwork and close control. Ideal for players stepping up from beginner gear, it rewards technique but may feel specialized for those unused to a pronounced low bow.
