MXR 15 ft Instrument Cable (Standard Series, Straight/Right-Angle)
Product description
The MXR Standard instrument cable ships as a single 15-foot lead available with straight-to-straight or straight-to-right-angle terminations, and the range also includes 5', 10' and 20' options.
Conductor construction uses 24-AWG oxygen-free copper to preserve pickup harmonics, paired with polyethylene insulation to maintain signal clarity. The spiral OFC shield combined with a conductive PVC electrostatic layer reduces RFI, EMI and handling noise for a quieter signal path.
A robust yet flexible outer PVC jacket and heat-shrink strain relief around soft-touch metal plugs help the cable stand up to road wear and frequent swapping between instruments, pedals and amplifiers. The cable is tuned to about 27 pF/ft capacitance for a warm, natural tone that works well with both guitar and bass.
Pros
- Oxygen-free copper conductors for clear signal
- Thick PVC jacket—flexible and roadworthy
- Spiral shielding and electrostatic layer reduce noise
Cons
- Right-angle plug can seat too deeply in recessed jacks
- Molded plastic plug dimensions can vary
- Certain lengths have limited end-style combinations
VerdictThis 15' MXR instrument cable delivers clean tone and durable construction for rehearsal and gigging. Its oxygen-free copper core and spiral shielding keep interference low while the extra-thick PVC jacket provides flexibility and protection. Some recessed jacks can cause right-angle plugs to seat too deeply, but swapping ends or reseating usually fixes it. Overall, a dependable cable for stage an

Reliable signal after decades of playing
After sixty years of playing, this MXR cord ranks among my most reliable. The heavy outer covering protects the inner conductors and 15' is a useful length.

Husky cable with a common plug caveat
This thing is beefy and inspires confidence. On one instrument the right-angle plug can seat a bit too far into recessed jacks, causing occasional dropouts. Flipping the cable so the straight end goes into the instrument or a quick reseat usually solves it. Typical for molded right-angle plugs but otherwise an excellent lead.
