Kala MK-C Makala Concert Ukulele Kit with Accessories
Product description
Concert-size body: Designed with a slightly larger profile than soprano models, the concert-scale body is easy to hold and gives a bit more room on the fingerboard for chord work and comfortable fretting.
Mahogany construction: The top, back and sides are mahogany, a tonewood that produces a warm, even sound suited to practice and small performances. The build aims for consistent tone across strings and playing styles.
Walnut fingerboard: A smooth walnut fingerboard provides a responsive surface for fretting and shifting, helping reduce hand fatigue during longer practice sessions.
Dimensions and playability: The instrument measures about 24.125 inches overall with a 14.875-inch scale length, yielding comfortable string spacing and familiar concert-size playability for new and intermediate players.
Complete starter package: This kit includes a soft gig bag for transport and storage; a clip-on tuner for accurate pitch; a strap for standing play; Aquila strings installed with an extra set for replacement; access to online lessons, an instructional DVD to guide early learning, and a polishing cloth to care for the finish.

Handy Starter Instrument
A fine beginner ukulele — it sounds good, is well made, and arrives with nearly everything you need to get started. Great value for someone learning the instrument.

Perfect for a Young Learner
My 14-year-old bought this with birthday money and has really enjoyed it. She reads music from band and found the included instructions sufficient to start. She was playing recognizable melodies right away and said the tuner was helpful. It sounds good and the carrying case encourages careful handling.

Looks and Sounds Very Nice
The uke has an attractive finish and feels lightweight yet solid. I tried a strap but it’s light enough that kids don’t need one. All strings sound clear, frets are smoothed, and the tuners function well. Action is comfortable and it stays in tune reasonably well after initial stretching. Bundle extras are mixed: the gig bag is decent, but I’ve found the included tuner less useful. I haven’t used the DVD yet.

Solid Concert Ukulele for Beginners
I bought the concert-size uke about a year ago as a beginner. The strings took a week or two to stretch and needed frequent tuning at first, but once they settled it holds pitch fairly well; now I only tweak it occasionally. The clip-on tuner works reliably and is simple to use. Construction feels sturdy and the wood looks nice. One minor annoyance: small plastic rings around the tuning posts can sometimes buzz; they can be removed if it becomes bothersome.

Great Choice for a New Player
I had never seriously played a stringed instrument before. After hearing a coworker play, I picked this Makala because of the Aquila strings and good feedback from others. I was surprised how quickly I could form melodies and sound decent. Plenty of online tutorials helped me along. Tone is excellent for an affordable instrument. The included tuner has been handy. My only gripe is the instrument tends to slip out of tune more often than I'd like while the strings settle.
