Bonide Captain Jack's Neem Oil Concentrate — 16 oz Garden Insecticide
Product description
This product is a concentrated neem oil formulation supplied in a 16 fluid ounce bottle. The package contains the neem oil concentrate only; it is designed to be diluted with water before use according to the label directions for spray or drench applications.
Derived from the seed of the neem tree, the concentrate serves three functions: insect control, mite control and fungal suppression. The active properties smother or interfere with feeding and development, helping to reduce populations at the egg, larval/nymph and adult stages. It is commonly used as a foliar spray, soil drench in some recipes, or as a dormant-season treatment to reduce overwintering pests.
When mixed to the recommended rates, the oil can be applied to roses and many flowering plants, vegetables, herbs, spices, houseplants, shrubs, trees and turf. It is compatible with organic gardening practices when used as directed. Because it is an oil-based concentrate, rinsing equipment and cleaning sprayers after use is recommended to prevent residue buildup.
Bonide is a long-established manufacturer in the home and garden field, with a history dating back to the 1920s. Had a heavy bug problem on one plant and one application removed roughly 99% of the pests.

Didn’t control whiteflies for me
I sprayed my gardenias twice and whiteflies persisted despite no rain in between. My son used it successfully on his fruit trees, so results may depend on the infestation or species.

Very impressed with texture and low-temp performance
I applied it as a drench using a recipe of 1 tablespoon neem oil and 1 teaspoon dish soap per container and also with a pump sprayer. It stayed fluid at about 59°F and didn’t clog my sprayer like other brands I’ve tried. Clean sprayers after use. The scent is milder than typical neem oils and tolerable indoors when plants are dry.

Effective, no harsh smell, repeat applications needed
I’m pleased with the results — it works well without an offensive odor. Follow label rates and reapply as directed since it can wash off in rain. I use it on my organic vegetable beds and haven’t noticed any flavor issues. Leaves stopped getting eaten when I monitored closely.

Versatile, protective choice for organic gardens
This concentrated 16 oz bottle goes far when mixed and performs against a wide array of pests, mites and some fungal issues on vegetables, fruits and ornamentals. It works by smothering pests and deterring feeding. Easy to apply with a hose-end or pump sprayer and, when used properly, plants showed no burn. Lower risk to beneficial insects compared with harsher chemicals.

Killed pests but caused some plant damage
It eliminated a swarm of small black beetles on my root crops, but some plants showed damage within a couple of days despite diluting. The odor is strong. I’m glad I didn’t spray the entire patch at once.

Rescued my indoor hydroponic setup
I grow strawberries and other crops indoors and began seeing webbing and browning leaves. After identifying spider mites, I treated affected tents and saw improvement. Saved me from replacing more plants and losing my hydro project.
