   Dependable worker for several seasons

   Has been in service three years and still goes strong. I change the diaphragm annually, which is an easy maintenance step. It pushes through a 32' x 12' pool, climbs to remove debris from the walls and adapts well to depth changes. Simple upkeep makes a manual clean much less frequent.

   Prefers diaphragm to wheels

   I replaced an older G3 after a decade underwater because the outer housing finally showed wear. The replaceable diaphragm and small wear parts are cheap and easy to swap. The G3 design uses minimal moving parts, which seems to be why many sites list it among top suction cleaners. It runs reliably and is far less complicated than gear-driven machines.

   Third one — hoping for long life

   This is my third G3. The first lasted seven years with only diaphragm swaps, then it weathered and cracked after heavy use. The second felt like a cheaper copy and failed in a year. The current unit feels closer to the original in quality. It collects hair, sand, bugs and most leaves I encounter; I can’t speak for very large foliage but it handles routine debris well.

   After three months it cleans the pool reliably, but it did jam on a ladder pipe when the outer ring contacted the vertical rung. Removing that ring fixed one snag but introduced a new sticking point at the step corner. Shortening the hose solved it, though that left a small area not reached. Now I brush that trouble spot before running the cleaner and it’s fine.

    Stopped working after a day — returned

    After initial runs it failed to move and my pump lost prime, taking hours to recover. I couldn’t locate the quick-release cassette despite the manual diagram and couldn’t access the diaphragm for troubleshooting. The next time the hose came flying out with a load of leaves, and I opted to return the unit rather than risk more pump issues.
