The Vintage Z2 is Viltrox’s compact, foldable TTL flash aimed at mirrorless shooters who want a lightweight fill-light solution. When folded it reduces to roughly the footprint of a wireless earbud case and weighs about 52 g, making it easy to stash in a pocket or small camera bag. Unfolded, the flash head reaches approximately 6 cm in height to help avoid blockage from most lenses.
Power comes from an internal 420 mAh rechargeable cell. Charging is via USB‑C and the unit supports charging while in use, so you can keep shooting during a session. Viltrox rates the battery at about 700 full-power flashes with a recycle time around 2 seconds at 1/1, which is ample for casual shooting and street work.
Out of the box the Z2 supports TTL auto exposure for quick, balanced results on compatible cameras. For controlled lighting the manual mode offers five stops of power adjustment from full (1/1) down to 1/16, letting you dial in subtle fill or stronger output depending on the scene.
The flash uses a quick‑release hot shoe that slides into place and locks for secure mounting and fast setup. A removable white diffuser is included to soften the output for more natural-looking light on faces and short-throw subjects.
Regarding mounts and compatibility, different camera systems use different TTL pinouts. The Z2’s M (manual) mode follows the industry-standard center-contact protocol, so as long as your camera has a center hot-shoe contact you can use manual flash output even without system TTL support. This makes the unit versatile for a wide range of mirrorless bodies.
In practice the Vintage Z2 excels as a carry-everywhere fill flash for portraits, travel snaps, and street photography. Its tiny size and foldable design reduce friction — you’re more likely to have on-camera light available when you need it.
