Small Reusable Hive Beetle Blasters (SHB) — 10 or 20 Pack
Product description
These SHB traps are sold in options of ten or twenty pieces and are molded from a durable plastic intended for repeated use. Each unit is compact and sized to sit between the outer frames of a standard hive, designed specifically for small hive beetle control.
The top surface contains openings sized to allow beetles into the chamber while preventing honey bees from entering. The traps are intended to be baited with a light layer of vegetable oil or a small amount of apple-cider vinegar, which entices the beetles and causes them to sink.
Usage is simple: slide a trap into the space between frames so it sits flush, then add the chosen liquid bait to the interior. The body is fairly deep to retain multiple beetles. The manufacturer promotes a reusable design, though the units do not always disassemble for easy dumping or cleaning.
Pros
- Fits tightly between hive frames
- Holes sized so bees can’t enter
- Accepts oil or vinegar bait
Cons
- Lid may not detach for cleaning
- Opaque top prevents easy beetle counts
- Some parts feel thinner than premium models
VerdictA straightforward trap that fits snugly between outer frames and draws in small hive beetles through top openings. Made of durable plastic and offered in 10- or 20-count packs. They accept oil or a vinegar solution as bait and hold many beetles, though some users report the lid doesn’t separate for cleaning despite the reusable claim.

Promising
Seems like they will do the job.

Good capacity and solid feel
These traps are deep and hold a fair number of beetles. I expect to replace them eventually, but they’re sturdy while in use.

Exactly as described
Arrived as expected. I keep extras on hand in case I notice SHB activity.

Works well, a few design quibbles
Switched from flip-top traps and found these simpler to install. They slide between frames and take oil bait. They seem effective, but the lid doesn’t open so cleaning is awkward and a clear top would help monitoring.

They do the job
Beetles that enter do not survive; the trap retains and drowns them. Very effective when beetles find the units.

Imitation but functional
I bought these as a substitute and they performed. The plastic is a bit thinner than name-brand versions, but they worked in hot weather when a pricier set warped.

Not actually serviceable
Despite being labeled reusable, the trap doesn’t come apart, so you can’t empty or clean it easily. They’ll trap beetles, but they’re not truly reusable in my view.
