LG Magic Remote Replacement MR25GA (2025) with AI Voice
Product description
This MR25GA AI Voice Magic Remote is built specifically for 2025 LG Smart TVs and is also backward compatible with many LG models from 2018 through 2025. The package contains a single MR25GA remote unit; batteries are not included.
The remote uses a mouse-like pointer for on-screen navigation, a tactile scroll wheel for lists and menus, and integrated voice recognition compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa (requires a network connection). On LG sets equipped with Bluetooth, voice and pointer functions operate over that connection for a smoother experience.
Power is provided by two AA batteries. Pairing is simple: install the two AA cells, point the remote at the TV and press the Wheel/OK button. A pairing confirmation appears on-screen. If the initial attempt fails, hold the Home and Back buttons for five seconds, then press the Wheel button to try again.
Compatibility limits: this remote will not function with TV models released before 2018, non-voice-enabled televisions, set-top boxes, or soundbars. It is intended to replace voice-enabled LG TV remotes and restore pointer and voice control where the TV supports those features.
Pros
- Simple pairing and familiar controls
- Supports voice assistants and pointer navigation
- Compatible with most 2018–2025 LG TVs
Cons
- Not compatible with pre-2018 or non-voice models
- Some users report stiff or finicky buttons
- Center wheel button can lack tactile feedback
VerdictA practical substitute for LG sets from 2018–2025 that restores pointer, scroll and voice features without the original packaging. Setup is straightforward, voice assistants are supported over network, and Bluetooth-enabled TVs retain full functionality. Good value for routine use, though a few units report minor button or cursor quirkiness over time.

Works out of the box
Remote worked immediately with no programming. I didn't rate five stars because I found cheaper options elsewhere, but functionally it performed well.

Solved our remote problems
This replaced the unusable remote that came with our TV. Setup was simple for older users and voice plus buttons now work reliably. Very pleased with the purchase.

Functional despite dog approval
It works fine. My dog treated it like a chew toy, but the remote itself operates as expected.

Quick replacement, performs well
Inserted batteries and it immediately took over. Feels a touch lighter than my old remote but works fine—microphone and motion controls respond well.

Perfect match for my LG set
Replaced my original without fuss. Setup was effortless and the remote operates smoothly. If your original is the same model, this one fits and works.

Still good after a year
After more than a year of use it continues to work on both my LG TVs and I haven't needed to change batteries. No issues to report.

Original unit, no issues
Original-style remote. No problems.

Works well but center button is odd
Very easy to connect and almost identical to the original. The scroll wheel and side presses feel normal, but the center button clicks without giving clear feedback, so it's hard to know if the press registered. We use that button frequently, so it's disappointing. Still affordable enough that I'd keep it rather than buy an OEM replacement for myself.

Started great then failed
Initially it replaced my original perfectly, but after about a month the pointer began acting up, then buttons stuck and eventually it stopped responding. Batteries were fine and it wasn't dropped or exposed to water.

Missing an arrow key
Works well overall but it does not include an arrow that my original remote had.

Feels like the original
Matches my original Magic Remote in look and function. Solid feel and easy to program. The pointer can be a bit touchy and some buttons were stiff at first but loosened with use.

Exceeded my expectations
This aftermarket remote impressed me. Buttons are firm, the wheel works, pointer and voice functions perform as intended. It auto-registered as a generic remote and after a brief button hold and TV power cycle the voice feature was active. Pointer uses RF so you don't need to aim directly at the screen; it worked with a model that wasn't specifically listed.
