Drive Medical Silver Sport 2 SSP218DDA-ELR Folding Wheelchair — Black
Product description
This folding wheelchair is presented as a ready-to-use mobility solution for adults. The package includes the wheelchair itself with a powder-coated silver vein steel frame, vinyl upholstery that wipes clean easily, composite wheels fitted with urethane tires for durability and smoother rolling, and push-to-lock wheel brakes.
The chair measures approximately 42 inches long, 26 inches wide and 36 inches high when set up, and narrows to about 12.5 inches across when folded. It offers an 18-inch seat width and armrests roughly 10 inches in length. The unit weighs in the low 40-pound range for transport and lifts, and it is rated for a 300 lb weight capacity.
Operation is simple: the frame collapses side-to-side by lifting the seat, making it convenient to place in a trunk or storage area. The model is equipped with removable, elevating leg rests and detachable armrests to assist with transfers and comfort adjustments; a storage pocket on the back of the seat provides a spot for small items. The overall design is intended for short to moderate seating periods, frequent folding for transport, and reliable day-to-day use.

VerdictA practical, easy-to-operate folding wheelchair that balances durability and portability. The Silver Sport 2 offers a sturdy silver-vein steel frame, cleanable vinyl seating, and urethane tires for a smoother ride. Mom approved
My mom really likes this chair — it meets her needs and is comfortable. Assembly was straightforward, though it would be helpful if the leg supports were clearly marked left and right. Other than that, it arrived mostly assembled and ready to use.

Weight capacity changed
I bought this in 2023 because the listing then stated a 400 lb capacity; I was ~355 lbs so that worked. After a couple of years the seat began tearing and I later noticed the listed capacity had been lowered to 350 lbs. Lesson learned: choose a chair with extra margin over your actual weight to allow for wear and carried items.

Sturdy and roomy
I bought this for my father-in-law after trying other options. It’s a respected brand, feels well built, and we were able to get the wider seat he needed. Very satisfied with how it performs for his mobility issues.

Simple and functional — it meets the basic requirements for a folding wheelchair.

Solid construction; leg supports cautious
The frame looks well made and the finish seems durable. The adjustable leg supports feel a bit flimsy but work as intended so far. The seat is comfortable, it wheels easily, and the locks are accessible. The armrests lift out for table access, and the leg supports remove so the chair fits into my medium trunk. I recommend this model.

For occasional outings
My mother uses this chair only for appointments and short trips. We saw the same model in clinics and felt confident choosing it. It unfolds and folds easily by pulling up on the seat, and it rolls smoothly. My husband can load it into the car without much trouble; it isn’t overly heavy. At 5'7" and just over 200 lbs she fits comfortably with a little room. It’s comfy for brief use, though not ideal for extended sitting.

Meets expectations
The chair matched the description and covered everything we needed. The removable elevating leg rests with pads are essential for my mother to relieve pressure, and the removable armrests make car transfers easier. The back pocket is handy for small items like a phone. It’s not lightweight — about 45 lbs — but I can still lift it into a trunk. Overall, a solid wheelchair.

Perfect for emergencies
Owning a chair has given me peace of mind after a prior ER visit where no wheelchair was available. Now I don’t worry about getting stranded. I did need to fine-tune the brakes slightly, but otherwise it’s ready for use and dependable.

Excellent for recovery
After major knee surgery I needed a wheelchair that accepted leg and foot rests. This arrived quickly and only required attaching the leg supports. It feels solid and secure; the wheel locks are easy to reach and effective. I chose the larger width planning to keep it long term, and it has worked very well during my recovery.
