Aluminium Fish Lip Gripper with Scale — 40 lb Rotating Lip Grip Tool
Product description
This tool is built from a lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminium alloy for durability in salt or fresh water. The kit includes the aluminium lip gripper with an integrated spring scale and a flexible hanging cord for storage and transport.
The jaw opens to approximately 1.65 inches to fit around fish lips comfortably, and the whole head rotates 360 degrees so you can orient the catch without twisting your wrist. The handle is finished with a non-wetting, wear‑resistant rubber grip to improve hold and reduce hand fatigue.
Operation is intended for simple one-handed use: clamp the jaw on the fish’s lip, read the hanging scale, and release via the trigger. The unit is rated to 18 kg (about 40 lb), making it useful for many species and fishing styles.
Pros
- Lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminium construction
- 360° rotating head and wide 1.65" opening
- Non-slip rubber handle with lanyard for one-handed use
Cons
- Scale can be inaccurate on small catches
- May require precise placement to lock on large mouths
- Belt/clip attachment can loosen with heavy use
VerdictA compact, corrosion-resistant lip gripper that combines a firm jaw with a built-in hanging scale and full rotation. The aluminium body and rubberized handle make it easy to handle and carry, and the 1.65-inch opening accommodates most mouths. It’s convenient for anglers who want a single-handed gripping and weighing solution, though some users report scale variability on smaller fish and occasion

Doesn’t always lock
I fish salmon in tributaries and hoped this would protect my hands, but after several days I got more bites trying to use it. It won’t lock on a salmon unless the jaw sits nearly perfectly and the gap is very small, so it didn’t work for me.

Belt clip weakness
The belt insert comes off too easily — the threading isn’t strong enough to keep it secure.

Solid performer
Works great and has held up without any signs of rust.

Secure hold
Grips tightly and lets you free the hook easily. I haven’t checked the scale closely, though.

Easy to use
Caught on and held easily. The built-in scale gave a useful weight estimate.

Sturdy tool
Well made and durable. The scale seems unreliable for small fish but is fine with larger ones.

Bought multiples
I bought three and like them overall, but the weight readings aren’t exact.
