Gather Your Ingredients: What You Need to Create Your Easter Bunny Board
Crafting this delightful Easter bunny charcuterie board is a joyous experience, and it begins with selecting the right combination of fresh, flavorful ingredients. Below are the basic components you’ll need to assemble your festive spread. Remember, the full amounts and detailed instructions are available in the comprehensive recipe card that follows.
- Brie Cheese: This soft, creamy cheese is the star of our board, forming the adorable bunny’s head, body, and decorative tie. You’ll need two smaller wheels of Brie for this purpose. Look for Brie that is firm enough to hold its shape when cut, but still soft and ready to be enjoyed. The rich, buttery flavor of Brie pairs wonderfully with both sweet and savory elements on the board.
- Salami: We recommend a good quality salami for its delightful texture and savory taste, which provides a nice contrast to the mild Brie. Salami is also perfect for crafting the elegant charcuterie rose, adding a touch of sophistication to your display. However, feel free to substitute with other cured meats like prosciutto, sopressata, or even thinly sliced turkey or ham for a lighter option.
- Crackers: Essential for pairing with cheese and meat, a variety of crackers adds visual interest and textural diversity. Include smaller squares, rounds, and rectangular shapes. Consider different flavors too, such as plain, whole wheat, or herb-infused crackers, to complement the other ingredients on the board. Gluten-free options can also be included to cater to all guests.
- Fresh Fruit: Fruit adds vibrant color, natural sweetness, and a refreshing counterpoint to the richer items. Our go-to choices for this board are juicy strawberries and crisp red grapes, which provide beautiful reds and purples. Other fantastic options that pair well with Brie include crisp apple slices, sweet blueberries, tart raspberries, or even vibrant kiwi slices. Choose your favorite seasonal fruits to make the board uniquely yours.
- Celery and Carrots: These crunchy vegetables are not only healthy additions but also play a crucial role in the bunny’s environment. Celery sticks are perfect for creating the illusion of fresh green grass at the base of your bunny. Carrots can be sliced into rounds, sticks, or even fun shapes using small cookie cutters to act as playful garnishes or a wholesome snack.
- Candy: To truly embrace the Easter spirit, a sprinkle of sweet treats is a must. Mini chocolate eggs are a classic choice and add a burst of color and sweetness. You can also include other favorite Easter candies like jelly beans, pastel-colored M&Ms, or small foil-wrapped chocolates to enhance the festive theme. These sweet elements create a delightful balance with the savory components.
- Rectangular Tray: The foundation of your charcuterie board is just as important as the ingredients. A sturdy rectangular tray or cutting board provides the canvas for your edible art. We used a 14×10 inch cutting board, but any similar size or a 13×9 inch sheet pan will work beautifully. Choose a board with a slight rim to help keep ingredients in place, or a flat, expansive surface to allow for creative arrangement.
Crafting Your Easter Wonderland: How to Assemble an Easter Bunny Charcuterie Board
Assembling this charming Easter bunny charcuterie board is a fun and creative process. Follow these simple steps to bring your edible masterpiece to life:
Step-by-Step Brie Bunny Creation
The star of our board, the Brie bunny, is surprisingly easy to construct. Begin by outlining two evenly curved arcs on opposite sides of one wheel of Brie cheese. These cuts will form the bunny’s ears and a cute little bowtie. Use a sharp knife for clean, precise cuts. Once cut, carefully place the second, untouched wheel of Brie in the middle of your chosen serving board to form the bunny’s head and body. Arrange the Brie bowtie piece just underneath the “head” and position the two ear pieces gracefully above, giving your bunny its adorable character. For extra detail, you can use tiny pieces of olive or a small blueberry to create eyes, and a sliver of bell pepper for a nose, though the basic shape is charming enough on its own.

Creating an Elegant Salami Rose
A salami rose adds a sophisticated touch to any charcuterie board, and it’s simpler to make than it looks. To begin, take five pieces of salami and fold each in half. Line them up slightly overlapping on a flat surface, then carefully roll them together tightly to create the compact center of your rose. Next, take individual slices of salami and lay them flat, slightly overlapping, around the rim of a small serving glass. The exact number of slices will depend on the size of your glass and your desired rose fullness. Gently place the previously rolled-up salami core into the center of the glass, letting the surrounding slices naturally form the petals. Once complete, carefully invert the glass onto your serving board, releasing a beautiful, edible salami rose. This method ensures a sturdy and attractive flower, ready to be admired.

Once your Brie bunny and salami rose are in place, it’s time to fill out the rest of the board. Artfully arrange the various fruits, vegetables, crackers, and seasonal candies around the bunny. Think about color, texture, and balance as you place each item. Fill in any empty spaces to create a lush, abundant display that truly celebrates spring.

Quick Tips for a Perfect Charcuterie Board
Achieving a picture-perfect and delicious charcuterie board is simple with a few insider tricks. These quick tips will help ensure your Easter Bunny board is a huge success:
- Keep Brie Cold for Clean Slices: When preparing to cut your Brie cheese into the bunny shape, ensure it is thoroughly chilled. Cold Brie is much firmer and easier to slice cleanly, allowing you to achieve those crisp, defined arcs for the ears and bowtie without smudging or sticking. If your Brie starts to soften, pop it back into the fridge for a few minutes.
- Slightly Warm Salami for Easier Folding: In contrast to the Brie, salami can be a bit stiff when cold, making it challenging to fold and roll into delicate roses. Allow your salami slices to come to room temperature for about 10-15 minutes before assembly. This slight warming will make the meat more pliable, enabling easier and more effective folding and shaping for your beautiful charcuterie flowers.
- Work from the Outside In for Easier Assembly: When building your board, it’s often easiest to start by placing the larger, anchor items like your Brie bunny and salami rose first. Then, strategically arrange your crackers and larger fruit/vegetable clusters around them. Finally, fill in the smaller gaps with individual fruits, nuts (if adding), and candies. This “outside-in” approach helps create a balanced and full look, ensuring no space is left awkwardly empty.
- Vary Snack Placement for Aesthetic Appeal: To create a visually dynamic and enticing board, avoid grouping all similar items together. Instead, scatter your crackers, fruits, and vegetables throughout the board. For example, place some grapes near the cheese, some near the salami, and some with the crackers. This technique encourages guests to explore the entire board and creates a more aesthetically pleasing presentation with varied colors and textures dispersed evenly.
- Consider Different Textures: A truly great charcuterie board offers a variety of textures. Ensure you have creamy cheeses, crunchy crackers, crisp vegetables, and chewy fruits. This interplay of textures makes each bite more interesting and enjoyable.
- Incorporate Fresh Herbs or Edible Flowers: For a final touch of elegance and freshness, garnish your board with a few sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme, or a sprinkle of edible flowers like pansies or violets. These natural additions enhance the spring theme and add a delightful aroma and visual appeal.
Serving Suggestions for a Complete Easter Feast
This Easter Bunny Charcuterie Board is a fantastic appetizer on its own, but it also pairs beautifully with other festive treats to create a truly memorable spread. Consider offering a selection of complementary dishes that enhance the holiday spirit:
- Classic Deviled Eggs: A staple for any Easter gathering, deviled eggs are always a crowd-pleaser and offer a creamy, savory bite that contrasts nicely with the board.

Smart Storage and Make-Ahead Tips
Planning ahead can make your Easter entertaining stress-free. Here are some practical storage and make-ahead tips for your charcuterie board:
- Refrigerating the Assembled Board: If you have ample space in your refrigerator, you can carefully cover the entire assembled board with plastic wrap or foil and place it directly into the fridge. This is ideal if you’re preparing it just a short while before serving. Ensure it’s on a level surface to prevent items from shifting.
- Prepping Ingredients in Advance: To save time on the day of your event, prep your food beforehand. Wash and cut all vegetables and fruits, then store them in separate airtight plastic storage bags or containers in the refrigerator. This keeps them fresh and ready for quick assembly. You can also pre-slice your salami and have it ready.
- Storing Leftovers: Any leftover charcuterie items should be stored promptly to maintain freshness. Transfer cut veggies, fruits, meats, and cheeses into separate airtight containers or storage bags. While components like cheese and cured meats will last a bit longer, it’s best to consume fresh fruits and vegetables within a day or two for optimal taste and texture. Crackers should be stored separately in an airtight container to prevent them from becoming stale.
- Assembling Just Before Serving: For the freshest presentation and taste, we recommend assembling the full board no more than 1-2 hours before serving. This prevents fruits and vegetables from wilting, cheeses from drying out, and crackers from softening, ensuring everything looks and tastes its best.
