MAGNA-TILES Undersea Adventure — 58-Piece Magnetic Construction Set Review
Product description
What’s included: The kit contains 58 magnetic pieces: an extra-large baseplate, quarter domes and quarter arc pieces for rounded constructions, teal straight and curved slide elements, trapdoor tiles with hinged openings, newly designed Sensory Tiles with tactile features, Soft Coral and Octopus Tentacle components, assorted coral shapes, arch window tiles, decorative ocean-themed tiles, two diver figures outfitted with flippers, and four magnetic sea animals — a dolphin, a shark, a sea turtle, and an octopus.
Materials and construction: Most tiles are molded from durable, rigid plastic with embedded magnets along edges for strong connections. The coral and tentacle pieces use a softer, flexible material to add tactile contrast and simulated marine texture. Sensory Tiles incorporate raised and indented surfaces for touch-based engagement, while the slides and trapdoors are engineered to integrate seamlessly with the magnetic tile grid.
How it’s used: Builders can assemble multi-level observation pods, curved tunnels, and reef formations by combining dome and arc pieces on the XL baseplate. Slides and trapdoors introduce motion — letting figures traverse paths and fall through openings — which amplifies pretend play. The set works interchangeably with other magnetic tile collections, so you can expand layouts or merge these ocean features into larger builds.
Play value and learning: This collection encourages imaginative storytelling, role-playing, and hands-on exploration of spatial relationships. Children practice fine motor coordination when aligning magnets and manipulating small accessories, while the sensory elements support tactile discovery. The included figures and animals invite narrative play scenarios like rescue missions, reef expeditions, and habitat design.

Encourages more imaginative play than typical sets
At first I questioned the piece count, but watching the kids use the animals, divers, curved and domed tiles showed how this set promotes sustained storytelling rather than just building and leaving structures unused.

Nice addition with unique elements
We already own several tile kits and this one adds new shapes and accessories that change how our kids play. The colors suit the theme and the sensory pieces are a hit; wish there were a few more tiles to expand scenes.

Perfect present for a sea creature fan
Bought this for my grandson’s third. He adores turtles and immediately started arranging the animals and domes, playing with the little sea figures for hours.

Great textures and play features, a larger kit would help
The soft coral bits, pop-like sensory tiles, hinged trapdoors, and diver figures add variety and keep kids engaged. Pieces feel sturdy and mate well with other tile sets. The only drawback is that the set’s piece count limits larger group constructions.
