360-Grit Diamond Flattening Stone — Compact Plate for Sharpening Stones
Product description
Included in the package is a single diamond flattening plate assembled into an ABS housing for handling and protection.
The active surface is a diamond-coated plate graded at 360 grit, designed to abrade and level the high spots on stone faces. The abrasive layer is bonded to a rigid backing for consistent contact.
The unit is intentionally compact for portability; its overall dimensions are 2.75" x 0.75" x 0.25". The ABS casing adds impact resistance and a grip for controlled use.
It is intended to be used with both standard and premium sharpening stones: place the diamond plate against the stone's surface and move it across the face to remove peaks and restore flatness. The small size is useful for spot flattening and travel kits.
Made by Mercer Culinary, the tool is targeted at cooks and professionals who want a simple flattening solution that pairs with common sharpening stones.
Pros
- 360-grit diamond face for dependable material removal
- Compact and lightweight for travel or tight storage
- ABS housing gives a firm grip and protects the plate
Cons
- Very small contact area limits speed on larger stones
- Not ideal for leveling large or heavily worn stones
- May feel fiddly compared with full-size flattening plates
VerdictA durable 360-grit diamond plate in a compact ABS body that will flatten small sections of a sharpening stone effectively. Its tiny footprint makes it easy to store or carry, but the small working area can limit efficiency on larger stones.

Not what I expected — far too small
This isn’t a typical flattening tool — it’s extremely small, about the size of two postage stamps, and I couldn’t find a practical use. Positive reviews seemed to reference other sharpening gear. Returning it.

Too small to be practical
Far too small for any useful flattening work. Returning.
